Since the opening of Amanpuri in Phuket in 1988, Aman has developed a collection of hotels and resorts shaped around a distinctive philosophy of privacy, space, serenity and deeply considered service. Today, Aman has a portfolio spanning destinations across Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, the Americas and the Caribbean.
β
An Aman in a Japanese forest feels entirely different from an Aman overlooking the Grand Canal in Venice, a desert retreat in Utah or a private island in the Maldives. Yet there is a recognisable feeling that connects them all.
Aman takes its name from the Sanskrit-derived word for peace, and the idea of creating a sense of calm remains central to the brand. Its properties are designed to respond to their surroundings rather than impose a standardised hotel aesthetic upon them. Architecture, materials, gardens, cuisine, wellness and experiences are all closely connected to the destination. The result is that an Aman stay often feels less like staying in an international hotel and more like entering a private world created specifically for its setting.
Privacy is another defining element. Many Aman properties are deliberately secluded, with generous accommodation, private villas or pavilions and an emphasis on creating space around the guest. Aman itself describes its destinations as places where guests can experience profound privacy, generous space and a strong connection with their surroundings.
And then there is the service. Aman is known for an intuitive, understated style of hospitality: attentive without feeling intrusive, highly personalised without becoming formal.

One of the pleasures of the Aman collection is its variety. For a beach escape, there are destinations such as Amanpulo in the Philippines, Amanyara in Turks and Caicos, Amanpuri in Phuket and Amanwella in Sri Lanka.
For a sense of wilderness, Amangiri in Utah places contemporary architecture against the extraordinary landscape of the American Southwest, while Aman-i-KhΓ‘s offers an immersive setting beside Ranthambore National Park in India.
In Asia, Aman has created some of its most culturally immersive retreats, including Aman Kyoto, Amanemu, Amanjiwo, Amandari and Amanpuri. Japan in particular offers a fascinating combination of urban energy, gardens, traditional culture and restorative landscapes through Aman Tokyo, Aman Kyoto and Amanemu.
And for city stays, there is Aman New York, occupying the historic Crown Building in Manhattan, as well as Aman Venice, set within Palazzo Papadopoli on the Grand Canal.
This diversity is part of what makes the collection so appealing: the Aman experience changes with the destination while retaining the brandβs underlying philosophy.
β
Wellness at Aman is not simply an additional hotel facility. Across the collection, wellness is integrated into the wider experience of the destination, with spas, treatments, movement, nutrition, nature and restorative experiences forming part of the Aman approach.
The brand has also developed more specialised wellness journeys, including programmes created in collaboration with Novak Djokovic at selected Aman destinations.
For some guests, an Aman holiday may be about complete relaxation. For others, it may be about reconnecting with nature, exploring a culture, improving wellbeing or simply having the space to slow down.

Aman is one of the hotel collections I am particularly pleased to work with through Sojournelle. For me, working with Aman is about much more than having access to a portfolio of exceptional hotels. It is about being able to understand the character of individual properties and help clients choose the Aman that is right for the particular journey they are planning.
Aman Tokyo and Aman Kyoto, for example, create completely different experiences. Amanzoe is very different again, as is Amanpulo, Amangiri or Aman Venice. The right choice depends on the client, the destination, the season, the type of room or villa, and what they want from the journey.
That is where I see the value of a personal travel advisor.
β
For selected Aman properties, Sojournelle also offers an additional hotel credit on eligible bookings. This is important to distinguish from Amanβs own preferred-partner benefits.
The Sojournelle credit is funded directly by Sojournelle and is provided on top of the hotelβs applicable preferred-partner benefits. The amount and any minimum-stay requirements can vary by property, so I specify the current Sojournelle benefit on each individual hotel page.
It is my way of adding something personal to an already exceptional hotel experience.
β
There is no single βAman experienceβ. There is the Aman experience of a private island, a Himalayan valley, a Japanese garden, a Mediterranean landscape, a desert canyon or a great international city. That is precisely what makes the collection so interesting.
When arranging an Aman stay through Sojournelle, I can help with the details that matter: from selecting the right property and accommodation to arranging dining, transfers, experiences and special occasions.
And, where applicable, I can add a little something extra through the Sojournelle Additional Credit, plus all the regular AmanΒ VIPΒ benefits, perks and amenities.
For me, Aman represents a particularly refined form of luxury: space, privacy, a strong sense of place and service that feels instinctive rather than intrusive.
And those are qualities I am always happy to help my clients discover.
